About Us
The James Madison University Club Ice Hockey team started in 2008 at the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division III level as a member of the Blue Ridge Hockey Conference (BRHC). After seven seasons, the Dukes were promoted to the ACHA Division II level, joining the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Hockey League (ACCHL).
The team made a quick impact in the ACCHL, making the playoffs their inaugural season. The Dukes have reached the playoffs four of their eight seasons playing in the ACCHL, ending a four-year drought in the 2022-2023 season. Among other accolades, the Dukes were back-to-back champions of the Stephen Russell Tournament, winning in both 2016 and 2017.
Currently, the Dukes have two teams who both compete in the ACCHL. One in the Men’s Division II Elite (Capitol Region) and one who competes in Men's Division II-A (Tide Water Region).
JMU Ice Hockey home rink is the Haymarket Iceplex located in Haymarket, Virginia.

How to Join
We hold tryouts prior to the season during the first week of classes. Our tryout dates can be found on our instagram. Please fill out the link in our Instagram bio or the information form on our team website to stay connected.
Time Commitment
Haymarket Iceplex is roughly 80 minutes from campus. Because of this, players on the teams show great commitment to the sport they love and truly bond in the time in between campus and the rink. Teams practice once a week and have games over the weekend.
The D2 Elite team plays roughly a 30 game schedule while the D2-A team plays a roughly 20 game schedule.
Dues
Dues range from $2,500 to $3,000 for returning players with incoming students having an additional equipment package costs on top.
