Founded in 2015, JMU Team Handball provides an opportunity for all students to learn a new sport and compete with other universities across the country. Team Handball, the second most popular sport in Europe, combines basketball, soccer, and elements of other sports. It is currently an event held at the Olympic games, most often won by countries such as France, Germany, Sweden, and Spain.
The collegiate club level is divided into men’s and women’s competition. Currently, JMU only has a men’s team with about 35 members, however, we are hoping to field a women’s team in the near future.

JMU Team Handball holds tryouts during the fall and spring semesters. We encourage anyone who is interested to come out, even if they have never played or heard of the game before.

The collegiate club handball organization is not divided into divisions, however, because of geographic limitations, JMU Team Handball rarely plays teams beyond driving distance of the east coast. There are various tournaments held throughout the year at schools such as Miami University of Ohio, North Carolina Chapel Hill, Penn State, and Auburn University.

Dues will be decided on a year-to-year basis, and are currently $100 per semester or $200 for the year. This includes uniforms, equipment, travel expenses and various other team expenses.

For the Fall 2018 semester, we will be practicing in Godwin Hall, Gym B from 6-8pm on Sunday nights and in UREC (MAC 3) from 9-11pm on Wednesdays. This is subject to change in future semesters.
