Madison Student
Giving Campaign
Bleed Purple, Give Green!
Help us reach our goal of
2008 student gifts (502 gifts per class). Make your gift
(donation) in honor of your graduation year today!
Why support
Madison?
- To increase the value of
your degree
- To ensure that JMU
continues to be a great school for the generations to
come
- To show thanks to JMU for
an outstanding education
- In honor of the life-long
friendships you've made
The Madison Student Giving
Campaign (MSGC) provides students a way to give back to the
university. The MSGC operates under the Madison Fund, the
annual fund within the development office. Gifts to the
Madison Fund are used where the need is greatest.
Making a gift to the Madison
Student Giving Campaign is easy! You can make a gift via
cash, check, credit card or Flex. To make your gift online,
go to www.jmu.edu/give.
You may also give your gift to one of the MSGC captains or leave it
in one of several drop boxes across campus.
"I want to make a
special gift this year in honor of the
centennial."For the 2007 - 2008 school year, the Madison Student Giving
Campaign will offer a special "100 for 100 - $100 for 100
years." Current students who make a gift of $100 this year
will receive special recognition.
"I can't afford a
large gift!" We understand that students are on a limited
budget. Our motto is that "It's not how much you give, but
that you give!" Gifts in honor of your graduation year are
encouraged ($20.08 for a graduating senior), however gifts as
little as $5.00 are accepted. Even small gifts can add up to
great things. Just think&
- If just 100 students made a
gift in honor of their graduation year, we would have raised over
$2,000, enough for a student scholarship.
- If 500 students gave
$20.08, over $10,000 would be raised and if 1,000 students gave a
gift in honor of their graduation year, over $20,000 would be
raised for JMU. This amount can go a long way in enhancing
your education. $20,000 could be spent on additional
equipment for student use, faculty research, alternative spring
break scholarships and more.
"$20.08 seems like a
lot of money." This is what
the average student would spend on a dinner out, a new CD, or a few
Starbucks coffees. Putting aside money for your gift is
easier than you would think. Skip a coffee a week and in no
time, you've set aside enough to make a gift in honor of your
graduation year.
"I'm already paying
money to the university in tuition." Tuition covers only a portion of what it costs to run
the university, so gifts from private sources are essential.
YOU have benefited from gifts made by students who graduated before
you. The student giving program began at JMU in
1989. These gifts have made a difference in your
education, and in your Madison experience. Click here to see
the results of JMU's previous student giving
campaigns.
"Where will my money
go?" You decide where
you would like to allocate your gift. Gifts may be made to a
specific college, to a scholarship fund, to Student Affairs, or the
Duke Club. There are over 200 funds to which your gift may be
made. For more information on areas of funding, please
contact the Madison Fund at 540-568-8840.
"Why is my gift
important?" State funding,
tuition and fees cover only a portion of your Madison
experience. The university relies on support from alumni,
faculty and staff, friends and students to provide the
opportunities and resources vital to an outstanding educational
experience.
Even a small
gift can make a big difference in the lives of students at
JMU. Your gift matters!
