The Collegiate Entrpreneurs' Organization

The College Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) strives “to inform, support and inspire college students to be entrepreneurial and seek opportunity through enterprise creation.” JMU’s CEO chapter is part of a network of 250 collegiate, student-led entrepreneur chapters, promoting entrepreneurship at all levels and in all environments. The organization offers opportunities to participate in networking events, competitions, regional and national conferences, and much more.

Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE), Beta Upsilon Chapter

Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE)—a national honorary and professional management organization for students planning careers in the management field—encourages and recognizes academic achievement and scholarship in management while promoting collaboration between the academic and practical aspects of management. Our activities include hosting and participating in Department of Management events, networking opportunities with management professionals and presentations by business leaders.

Qualifications for membership include a minimum overall GPA of 3.25 and demonstrate an interest in the management field. Students interested in joining SIE also must have completed at least one year (30 hours) at JMU, and completed at least one management with a grade of “B” or better.

Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

SHRM provides students interested in a career in human resource management the opportunity to develop and explore their career interest outside of the classroom. Presentations by human resource professionals on cutting edge issues and practices. We offer a variety of activities, including:

  • Company tours to see HRM practices in operation
  • Workshops on key HRM topics
  • Shadow Days with local professionals
  • Internships
  • Social events with peers and business professionals
  • Resume and interview preparation and critique with practicing professionals
