Description of the Major
The history program blends core requirements with great choice permitting you to pursue particular interests while developing a broad understanding of the historic past. You will have the opportunity to design, in consultation with faculty advisers, approximately two-thirds of your program to suit your needs and interests. The major offers you an opportunity for independent research and to present your findings at regional or national conferences. History prepares you for a broad range of challenging careers.

Declaring the Major
New Freshmen and Transfer Students
Declare the history major when you register for orientation.
Currently Enrolled Major Changers
Submit a "Change or Declaration of Major" form to the history department head in Jackson Hall, room 201.
Progressing in the Major
Remain in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
