Where Should I Give?

The impact of your gift depends a lot on where you send it. There are more than 2,200 funds at JMU that provide funding for scholarships, academic departments, student programs, facilities enhancements, the recruitment and retention of exceptional faculty, and needed support for many big dreams in Madison's future.

General Funds

Gifts to these funds are the backbone of the university and have the most flexibility, going to areas of the greatest need, or creating seed money for new program development.

Examples: The Madison Fund and The Madison Forever Vision Fund

Scholarship Funds

The financial aid office seeks to assist as many students as possible through existing grants and scholarships, but there are still far too many Dukes who don’t receive support due to insufficient funding. Gifts to scholarship funds help close the gap between students who qualify for financial aid and those who receive it.

College/Departments/Student Services

Colleges, departments and student services have created funds for program and scholarship support throughout the university. Gifts to these areas are specific to the program area. Learn more
