ADP Students Study Abroad
During Summer 2025, 5 ADP students participated in Study Abroad, The Exploration of Migration and Culture in Germany. Students embarked on an in-depth exploration of the history, culture, and support of refugees in Germany, Poland, and the surrounding areas. Students engage in guest lectures, site visits and excursions, and interact with local and international students. Through these activities, students learned about the positive and negative implications of migration for Frankfurt an der Oder, the history and politics in eastern Germany, and how Frankfurt (Oder) supports refugees.
Students spent most of their time in Frankfurt an der Oder at our partner institution, Viadrina University. They then traveled into Poznan, Poland, and finishing their trip in Berlin. A parallel program of newly admitted JMU students coincided with the ADP students, providing opportunities to learn and travel together. Students were able to take part in this experience at no cost thanks to institutional support from JMU, and private donations for generous funders.
