Lennis Echterling has traveled to counsel people in traumatic situations including Hurricane Katrina and the Virginia Tech shooting. He has been helping support men and women through the Valley Crisis Center for over 20 years. He focuses on counseling education to prevent burnout and encourage flourishing within the counseling profession. He studies resilience, how people can be resilient in traumatic situations and how positive emotions can help in these situations.  

He recieved his Ph.D. and master's from Purdue University, and his B.A. from Rockhurst College.
