Our first virtual Walk for Hope will be held on Saturday, March 27th. Walk for Hope has been an annual event in our community for over 9 years, bringing together members of James Madison University, Blue Ridge Community College, Bridgewater College, Eastern Mennonite University, and area residents to raise awareness about depression & suicide prevention, while encouraging hope. We hope you’ll join us!

To participate in this year’s virtual event, we encourage everyone to walk 2 miles in your neighborhood in honor of the event, and then visit our Facebook page to view a video featuring speaker Dave Urso, Dean of Academic Affairs at Blue Ridge Community College and a long-time supporter of Walk for Hope. This event is free, and we encourage all to participate.

For more information on the Walk for Hope, visit the event’s Facebook page. Additionally, the JMU Counseling Center provides a variety of support services to JMU students struggling with personal and/or interpersonal issues common to a college population. Outreach efforts like the Walk for Hope focus on preventative care and maximize the potential of all students to benefit from the academic environment and experience. To first connect with the JMU Counseling Center, visit us during our walk-in hours (Mon-Fri, 10-3) or call 540-568-6552.
