Microsoft 365 on the Web

Over the summer, Microsoft implemented some changes to Microsoft 365 on the web where the logo and branding now says M365 Copilot and users are taken directly into Copilot Chat.

This is still your M365 home on the web and where you can find the Microsoft apps available to you at JMU. To navigate away from Copilot Chat, simply find your pinned apps, or list of all apps, on the left side navigation bar.

Microsoft 365 New Interface

Microsoft Teams Layout

As previewed in the June 2025 IT Newsletter, Microsoft released an update to Teams that introduces a new layout available for chats and channels.

This update brings about new ways to organize conversations inside Microsoft Teams and a single point for organizing and triaging messages from both individuals and groups of people. This allows users to stay up to date without needing to switch contexts from chat to channels, so that they can work across conversations more efficiently.

You can try the new experience for Combined by navigating to Teams settings and the section for Chats and channels.

New Teams Layout Option

Note: you must have the List layout turned on to use this new combined option. After trying it out, you can always switch back to the classic experience for Separate chat and channels if desired.

Microsoft Teams Calendar

Microsoft also released the Unified Calendar over the summer, a new option to bring the familiar look and feel of the Outlook calendar into Teams.

Unified Calendar brings powerful features such as propose new time, multiple views, and more options that were not previously available in the Teams calendar.
