The Fitness Sampler Program gives established social groups (such as sororities, a neighborhood mom’s group, or a breast cancer survivor group) the opportunity to partner with the Morrison Bruce Center to explore a variety of group-based fitness experiences.
MBC staff will collaborate with your group to understand your preferences and goals, select six customized fitness classes to sample, and facilitate a follow-up session designed to help your group create a sustainable, long-term fitness plan. Because social support is a powerful factor in starting and maintaining regular exercise, this program leverages your group’s built-in support system to encourage members to build and sustain active, healthy lifestyles.
Goal: Support existing groups in identifying fitness styles and routines that inspire members to pursue physical activity consistently—together.
Who: Any JMU or Harrisonburg/Rockingham County group of women (e.g., a sorority, a neighborhood mom’s group)
When: Six evening classes and two group meetings scheduled at mutually convenient times
Where: Locations may include JMU and local fitness facilities
Cost: Free!
We ask each group to commit to a minimum of eight participants for the full eight-week program.
