Work-Related Education or Training from an External Source - Policy 1403 


James Madison University encourages and supports the professional development of its employees. Funds are available for AP Faculty, classified staff and wage employees for participation in job-related professional development opportunities as well as job-related training materials including:

  • conferences
  • workshops
  • seminars
  • certification programs
  • webinars
  • training DVDs
  • certification manuals
  • workbooks
  • books / other reading materials

  • JMU will not pay for training taken to meet minimum requirements of an employee's present job, for training that is part of a program of study that will qualify the employee for a new trade or business, or for travel expenses associated with the training.

    To request training funds, simply complete the Request for Training Funds form online and print. Obtain the required signatures and send to Gina Maggio at Training and Development (MSC 5808) for approval.
