Jennifer joined the Training and Development department in February of 2013 as the Director after working for over seven years in JMU’s Office of Human Resources. Jennifer double majored in Psychology and English as an undergraduate at JMU. She holds a Master of Social Work degree from VCU and Master of Science in Education in Adult Education and Human Resource Development from JMU. Her responsibilities include leading the T&D team; analyzing professional development needs; developing, delivering and evaluating professional development workshops; and ensuring that the activities of the Training and Development department support the university mission. She enjoys engaging JMU employees in professional development activities that foster personal and professional growth, enhance work/life balance and increase workplace productivity. Jennifer is MBTI, SDI and Franklin Covey Rethinking Stress certified.

Raymond Brown, Jr. Professional Development Specialist brown2ra@jmu.edu 540-568-5366
Raymond joined the JMU Training and Development Department in June of 2013 and serves as the Professional Development Specialist. His responsibilities include analyzing professional development needs, developing, delivering and evaluating professional development workshops and overseeing technology for learning. His former experiences, JMU Football player, AHRD Master's program graduate, and Organizational Development Coordinator in the University Unions Department, have cultivated Raymond’s passion for seeing others grow to their full potential. He is very passionate about his family, wife Sarah and two dogs, and his involvement in the community. His hobbies include reading, playing sports and mentoring young men.

Suzanne came onboard with the JMU T&D in 2004, by way of various capacities in the College of Business, including the Center for Entrepreneurship and the National Center for Professional Development. As Training Coordinator, her responsibilities include connecting workshops with content experts, and managing the Administrative Assistant Certificate Program and The JMU Success Series. She is a Covey-certified trainer. Suzanne is a recipient of the 2002-2003 College of Business Special Service Award, the 2005 Madison Award for Community Service and Volunteerism and a 2013 Customer Service Award Nominee for the JMU Administration and Finance Division. A passionate fundraiser, Suzanne is a Rockingham Memorial Hospital Foundation Board member and volunteers for several community organizations. She lives in Harrisonburg with her husband, Bill and their son, Parker.

Renee serves as the Professional Development Assistant for Training and Development. She joined JMU in November 2009 as the Budget Assistant and is now responsible for working with JMU staff to process requests for training funds and tuition reimbursements, managing the department website and training calendar and supervising the student assistants. She and her husband relocated to Harrisonburg from northern Virginia in 2006 and have a son and a daughter. Renee believes in the importance of life-long learning and is an active volunteer in her local schools and a board member of the Rockingham Educational Foundation. She enjoys sewing, reading and traveling with her family to visit family and friends.

Kassi is the Logistics Specialist for JMU Training and Development. She joined the team in the summer of 2010 as an office assistant and became the Logistics Specialist for Training and Development in the fall of 2012. Her responsibilities include room set up for workshops, scheduling and assisting departments with room use requests and helping with the JMU Training and Development training calendar. When not at work, she enjoys being outdoors with her fiancé and their two Beagles, Lexa and Axel, field sports and doing any type of craft.
