Professional Etiquette Series

 

The Professional Etiquette series is a 6-session training program that focuses on workplace and professional etiquette. Sessions 1-5 are  A La Carte. Participants can register for any or all of the first five sessions. To attend session six, participants must register for and attend sessions 1-5 in the Professional Etiquette Series.


Session One: Workplace Etiquette, Course# TD1256
Monday, February 2, 2009, 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM, USB 102

Presented by Judy Rannow 

We have all heard "mind your manners" and "good manners are good business" but what does that have to do with workplace etiquette? Everything! In this session we will explore what skills are needed to make a lasting, professional impression.

Participants will:

  • Learn the basic principles of workplace etiquette.
  • Identify appropriate workplace etiquette behaviors.
  • Identify personal etiquette areas of strength and improvement.
  • Create a personal "Professional Development" action plan.

Session Two: Creating a Professional Image, Course# TD1271

How you look and carry yourself matters in the world. If you are interested in getting a professional image make-over or just want to learn a few tips this course is for you. 

Participants will:

  • Learn what a 'Professional Image" is.
  • Learn the basics of creating and maintaining a professional image.

Session Three: Communicating with Style, Course# TD1272

Presented by Sarah Schneider 

What we say and how we say it matters. Join us as we explore how our communication impacts how others see us. 

Participants will:

  • Explore the effect our communication style has on others perceptions of us.
  • Learn how communication styles change in different settings.

Session Four: Boardroom & Meeting Basics, Course# TD1273

Have you ever been in a meeting and wondered if you should speak up or not? Have you ever walked out of a meeting wishing you would have done something differently? In this session participants will learn proper meeting etiquette. 

Participants will:

  • Learn appropriate meeting conduct.
  • Learn about different meeting settings and etiquette rules for each.
  • Explore ways to become an active, engaged meeting participant..

Session Five: Dining and Social Etiquette, Course# TD1274
Thursday, March 19, 2009, 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM, USB 102

Presented by Judy Rannow & Jay Degioia, Aramark Catering Director 

Have you ever attended a social or networking event and wondered why you were there? Would you like to learn tips and tricks for socializing and networking? Have you ever wondered which utensil to use or what to order? In this session participants will learn the art of networking and dining etiquette. 

Participants will:

  • Learn the art of networking.
  • Learn how dining etiquette has changed over the years.
  • Learn the ABC's of dining (from casual to fine).
  • Learn about "Service with a Smile" and what the servers are doing.

Session Six: Practice Makes Perfect, Course# TD1275
Thursday, March 26, 2009, 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM, FCSC Ballroom C

Prerequisites: TD1256, TD1271, TD1272, TD1273 and TD1274 
Note: To enroll in Session Six, you must register for and attend sessions 1-5 in the Professional Etiquette Series.

  • Learn about place settings for different occassions.
  • Practice their Professional Etiquette skills.
