The President's Office Seventh Annual Conference on Diversity

Inclusion: A World of Opportunities

Course #TD1785

Using Pre-Course "Diversity" Surveys to Enhance Learning and Instruction

Note: This session is capped at 21 participants.

Track: Diversity Beyond Demographics

Session Description: This presentation will share how the development and use of Pre-Course Student Characteristics or “Diversity” Surveys to enhance learning and instruction.  Initially designed to collect student characteristics that mirror the content of the course (Teaching in a Diverse Society and Foundations of American Education), the Pre-Course Survey has been revised to include a broader scope of characteristics that impact who the learners are and what they bring to the course as learners. An example of the current Pre-Course Student Characteristics Survey and discuss how I use it to inform myself and my learners will be provided.
