Target Audience: Individuals that have completed JMU TD Facilitator Introduction: TD1374 and are interested in learning how to design and develop workshops for adult learners.

Workshop Description: Do you design or develop learning opportunities for adults? If so, JMU Training and Development has a unique process that will help maximize adult learning. The process incorporates adult learning fundamentals, sound design principles, learning assessment and program evaluation. You will learn design concepts as you develop a training workshop in this interactive session.

In this workshop participants will learn:

  • the elements of sound instructional design.
  • about relevant theories, models and strategies.
  • how to select appropriate instructional strategies based on target audience characteristics and instructional content.
  • how to write measurable learning objectives.
  • how to assess learning objectives.
  • the difference between assessment and evaluation.
After completing this workshop participants will be able to:
  • design and develop instructional events using the Rannow Instructional Systems Design Model and support materials.
