Religion and Spirituality at the Public University
Course# TD1336

NOTE: You must pre-register for lunch and each concurrent session you plan on attending.

This program will challenge participants to confront concerns and misconceptions about appropriate interactions with students related to spirituality and religion. We will share both a legal and societal perspective on why these types of programs and opportunities may not be offered as readily as programs addressing other areas of diversity. Using statistics, case studies, and personal narrative, we will address why it is not only appropriate but also imperative to provide these programs. Presenters will share programs that have been piloted at JMU through Spirituality Dialogues and the Interfaith Coalition, as well as the basic guidelines of our national partner, the Interfaith Youth Core, to demonstrate how we can fill this student need.
