Type: Single-Session Workshop

Total Workshop Time: 3 Hours

Make-Ups: No make-ups are scheduled for this workshop.

Pre-requisites: TD1185: Difficult Conversations Part I

Workshop Description:  In Part I, we focused on the 'nuts and bolts' of handling conflict effectively. However, talking about it in a professional development session is a lot different than using the tools in an actual conversation. In this session, we will review the tips shared in Part I and then practice applying them in real-life discussions.

In this workshop participants will:

  • Review the Difficult Conversations Model
  • Identify some pre-planning questions
  • Complete a Difficult Conversations Plan
  • Practice having a difficult conversation

This workshop is based on the book Difficult Conversations by Douglas Stone, Bruce Patton, Sheila Heen and Roger Fisher.

Presented by: Pat Kennedy, Program Director, IHHSS
