Dr. Ruth K. Shelton
Dr. Shelton is an Associate Professor of
Marketing at James Madison University where her primary teaching
interests are Retailing, Merchandise Buying and Consumer
Behavior. Prior to this position she was an Associate
Professor and a member of the graduate faculty at the University of
Houston, Texas Tech University, and the University of Louisville.
In addition, Dr. Shelton taught at Texas Woman's University
where she earned her Doctorate and Masters Degrees.
Dr. Shelton has served as Internship
Coordinator for the Marketing Department supervising interns in
numerous career tracks for the past five years. She had close
involvement and assisted with the Center for Direct, Interactive
and Retail Marketing. In
addition to retail experience, she maintains a business license,
and has involvement in real estate development. Dr. Shelton has conducted retailing study tours for
student groups participating in domestic and international
wholesale markets.
Her current research interest include issues
with WTO, retailers market share in a competitive world, increase
of private brands and issues, and changes in souring of retail
products. Her publishing activities include articles in various
journals and conference proceedings as well as publication reviewer
for numerous retailing journals and book publishers.
