HARRISONBURG - The James Madison University community extends its condolences to those at Virginia Tech on this sad day. JMU holds Virginia Tech in its thoughts today, as Tech begins to mourn its enormous loss, as well as in the days to come as it continues to cope with this tragedy.

The Counseling and Student Development Center is aware that students, faculty and staff have family and friends at Virginia Tech. In the wake of this unfolding tragedy, support services are available to members of the JMU community that have been touched by these events. The Counseling and Student Development Center, located in Varner House, will have additional counselors available for walk-in meetings throughout the week. Should a need for these services arise after 5:00 p.m., on-call counselors will also be available for consultation and support at 568-6913 and http://www.jmu.edu/counselingctr/.

At this time, JMU officials feel the campus is a safe environment as it relates to the Virginia Tech incident. Please be assured, if anything changes, the JMU Police and officials will take appropriate action.
