Fire! Quick. What do you do?

Life-saving information on escaping a smoke-filled house and preventing fires in residence hall rooms are part of Fireproof U 2008, an exhibition at James Madison University Saturday, Sept. 13.

Between noon and 3 p.m. on Hillside Field on the JMU campus, the public can tour Fireproof U. A Fire Safety House tests knowledge on what to do when surroundings are full of smoke. A model 8-by-8 residence hall room illustrates how to improve design to prevent fires.

Fire department craft projects for children are part of the exhibition. Other exhibits on tobacco awareness, alcohol awareness, bike safety, drug awareness and Safe Rides are included.

Fireproof U. is sponsored by the Harrisonburg Fire Department, Lowe’s and JMU.
