About
The Peace Corps Prep Program emphasizes leadership, service, and global relationship building. It is excellent preparation for service in the Peace Corps, and the skills you will acquire through the program can also help you obtain and succeed in other globally-oriented service or professional roles.
The program requirements are designed to build your skills in four areas:
- Sector-specific skills (academic knowledge and service experience in a specific area of focus)
- Foreign language proficiency
- Intercultural competence
- Professional and leadership development
Once you successfully complete the Peace Corps Prep program, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Peace Corps.
The Peace Corps Prep is not a JMU Certificate Program (it will not be included on your transcript). Completing the Peace Corps Prep program does not guarantee acceptance as a Peace Corps Volunteer. However, completing the Peace Corps Prep Program will give you a competitive edge for Peace Corps service and will prepare you for any kind of service or employment opportunities after college.
