Outside of our usual programming, there are numerous opportunities that become available throughout the year to our students, faculty and/or constituents. Below is our current list. We hope that one of these offerings will interest you!


JMU Cross Cultural Program: Leadership and Global Engagement

The JMU Cross-Cultural Summer Program: Leadership and Global Engagement takes place at James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, Virginia. During the program, students engage in exploring different aspects of leadership and global citizenship. Academic components include a variety of classes and lectures offered by JMU professors and guest speakers. Cultural programs include visiting historical places in Washington D.C. and interaction with the local community.

Honors Global Studies Practicum Opportunities

The Honors College and the Center for Global Engagement are excited to offer Honors students with an area of emphasis in Global Studies several opportunities to fulfill their practicum requirement. Students have the opportunity to engage in globally-focused service learning programs, practicums, or internships in Harrisonburg or abroad.

University Scholars Leadership Symposium (USLS)

This summer the annual University Scholars Leadership Symposium is in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. USLS 2019.  In collaboration with CS-L, we are planning to sponsor several students to attend. This is a great opportunity for our study abroad alums and for students involved with CS-L programs and leadership.

Normandy Allies – External Study Abroad Program

JMU students have the opportunity to participate in the Normandy Allies program during the Summer 2019 to commemorate strategic events of the Normandy Landings. Students who participate in this program will have pre-approval to receive 3 JMU credits for MSCI 150: Strategic Planning and Military Operations during the Battle of Normandy.
