EPIC features eight of the university’s most innovation classrooms—designed for faculty by faculty. Most rooms feature wall-to-wall writable whiteboard surfaces, movable teaching stations, and flexible furniture. Two of the classrooms are designed for team and group instruction, wherein students can sit at specially outfitted learning pods that include a table, plug-in points for tablets and computers, and a dedicated LCD screen. Additional room sizes and configurations can be found on the EPIC spaces pages.

Instructors teaching in EPIC are expected to:

  1. attend a “Meet Your Classroom” session prior to the start of the semester.
  2. collaborate with the Center for Faculty Innovation, Innovation Services, as well as SSC professional and student staff.
  3. learn and work with unfamiliar technology.
  4. adjust nimbly to unforeseen circumstances. The EPIC rooms are like a sand box and the technology does not work perfectly at all times.
