LGBT & Ally Education Program

Located in Montpelier Hall, Room 560, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Ally Education Program offers a free and confidential space to check out over 1500 books and movies about LGBT issues.

The program supports JMU's commitment to diversity by providing volunteer opportunities for students and educational events about the experience of LGBTQ identified students at JMU. The resource library is open from 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Website: www.wix.com/jmulgbta/program

Madison Equality

Madison Equality is JMU's support community for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students. The primary mission of the club is the promotion of tolerance and acceptance through education and awareness.

Safe Zone

Safe Zone Safe Zone is a voluntary network of faculty, staff and students who believe that every member of the university community should have an equal opportunity to grow and learn in a safe and open environment. Safe Zone provides trainings to the university community each semester.

All can become safe zone trained and will be added to a network of individuals who consciously choose to create safe spaces on campus.

Multilingual Writers' Community Blog

The James Madison University English Language Learner Services department has recently launched the Multilingual Writers' Community Blog where students are able to submit personal pieces of writing.

The site allows for students to connect with each other and at the same time exercise their writing skills in a non-evaluative setting, which as we all know, is a highly important skill in all professional fields. To join this blog go to http://www.jmumwc.com

Black Alumni Chapter

The mission of the JMU BAC is to serve as an instrument to promote positive relationships between the JMU African American student community, JMU African American alumni, and the University; to serve as a network of support to the JMU African American student community. Visit Website

Center for Multicultural Student Services

The Center for Multicultural Student Services celebrates diversity by heightening awareness and educating students regarding ethnic and cultural diversity. There are a number of programs, events and student organizations designed to support you. Visit Website

Multicultural Attaches´

The CMSS Multicultural Attachés promote diversity awareness throughout the JMU community by encouraging the transitioning student body to embrace multiculturalism. The program places special emphasis on assisting and supporting first year multicultural students who are adjusting to life at James Madison University. Visit Website

JMU Interfaith Coalition

The vision of the JMU Interfaith Coalition is to facilitate mutual understanding of any and all religions and world views, and to promote positive civic engagement in the JMU and local communities. Visit Website

SGA Diversity Affairs Committee

This committee is designed to be a voice within the JMU community to provide public support by creating unity through programs, legislation and community awareness to all students regardless of racial, ethnic, religious, gender, sexual orientation, and background. Committee Members

Office of Admissions

The Centennial Scholars Program provides full-ride scholarships and academic and personal support to a select group of students. Visit Website

The Office of Financial Aid assists students in identifying and obtaining resources to finance higher education and helps educate students so that they can make informed financial decisions. Visit Website

Furious Flower Poetry Center

Conversations About Diversity

Conversations About Diversity is a program developed to increase awareness about the diversity initiative by taking the message to students in the residence halls. The sessions, which last for an hour each, have evolved into a permanent activity in the residence halls. Schedule
