Alpha Kappa Psi

Type: Business Fraternity

Alpha Kappa Psi is the oldest and largest co-ed professional business fraternity in the world. Founded in 1904, AKPsi operates under the principles of promoting institutions of business education, developing future leaders, and fostering appreciation for higher ideals in business. Members of AKPsi are offered numerous opportunities to perform service activities, interact socially, and to develop their professional skills. All majors are welcome.

Epsilon Nu Tau

Epsilon Nu Tau is one of five business fraternities that JMU has to offer.  The Kappa chapter of Epsilon Nu Tau (ENT) was founded in the Spring of 2016.  The fraternity is Co-Ed and rush is open to all majors.  Through holding professional and philanthropic events, ENT encourages its members to pursue entrepreneurial passions while making a positive impact in the Harrisonburg community.

Gamma Iota Sigma is a professional fraternity organized to promote, encourage and sustain student interest in insurance, risk management and actuarial science as professions. Phi Gamma Nu is one of the oldest and largest co-ed professional business fraternities in the world. The Epsilon Iota chapter of Phi Gamma Nu (PGN) was founded in the spring of 2020 here at James Madison University. Being open to all majors, PGN cultivates professional excellence through its three main pillars: Professional, Social, and Philanthropy. Honor Societies
Beta Gamma Sigma

Type: Honor Society

Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society for all students enrolled in colleges and schools of business around the world that are accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).  Undergraduate students are invited to membership in AACSB if they meet the following criteria: (1) junior  or senior standing in an AACSB-accredited college or school of business; (2) minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.600;  and (3) academic ranking in the top 10% of the junior or senior class in the college or school of business.  Membership is extended to graduate students in either the MBA or M.S. in accounting program who rank in the top 20% of their class.

Delta Mu Sigma

Type: Honor Society

In 2018, Digital Marketing students at James Madison University founded the first honor society dedicated to the commitment of growth, innovation, and integrity of digital, direct, and database marketing scholarship and practice. Students may apply for membership to Delta Mu Sigma with the recommendation of a professor and at least Sophomore status and one of the following: 1) a 3.2 overall GPA and at least 57 hours completed, or 2) a 3.0 overall GPA with a 3.4 GPA in marketing and a minimum of nine marketing hours completed. Sophomores and Juniors who are accepted are required to provide eight hours of service to the organization per semester. The leadership of Delta Mu Sigma is working on an expansion plan to start chapters at other universities. This expansion is student-led and provides opportunities for leadership and in developing digital marketing skills.

Mu Kappa Tau

Type: Honor Society

Mu Kappa Tau National Marketing Honor Society (MKT), the only marketing honor society recognized by the Association of Collegiate Honor Societies (ACHS), is open by invitation only to students who achieve the highest academic standards, including a 3.25 or higher GPA. Juniors must rank in the top 10 percent of their class of marketing majors to qualify for admission, while seniors and graduate students majoring in marketing must rank in the top 20 percent of their fellow marketing majors.

Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE), Beta Upsilon Chapter

Type: Honor Society

Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE) is a national honorary and professional management organization for students planning careers in the management field.  SIE encourages and recognizes academic achievement and scholarship in management while promoting collaboration between the academic and practical aspects of management. Our activities include hosting and participating in Department of Management events, networking opportunities with management professionals and presentations by business leaders.

Qualifications for membership include a minimum overall GPA of 3.25 and demonstrate an interest in the management field. Students interested in joining SIE also must have completed at least one year (30 hours) at JMU, and completed at least one management with a grade of “B” or better.

The American Marketing Association at James Madison University is a Top 15 Chapter of the AMA (out of 400+ chapters). Founded in 1982, the JMU chapter of AMA is a student-run, nonprofit organization with the purpose of providing members with the knowledge, skills, opportunities, and connections to be the best marketing professionals possible in their future careers. Financial Management Association

A global leader in developing and disseminating knowledge about financial decision-making, the FMA is an international professional organization of financial executives, analysts, professors and students. In 2021, the JMU chapter celebrated its seventh consecutive year of being designated a Superior Chapter, an award given to less than 10% of chapters worldwide.

The JMU Society of Real Estate (SRE) is a student-led, professional business organization. The Madison Investment Fund is a student-run equity investment fund that manages a portion of the JMU endowment. Also known as JMU Ad Club, scratch pad. is JMU’s only student run advertising agency. We are a student chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the oldest national advertising trade association, representing 40,000 advertising professionals. Each year, scratch pad. competes in AAF’s National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC), creating campaigns for real-world clients like Ocean Spray, Adobe, Pizza Hut, and Snapple. Women in Technology (WIT)

Type: Club

We are a group of faculty and students interested sharing a common interest in computing and technology. We do not restrict participants to any one discipline but are dedicated to promoting and supporting women in technology. Our members are drawn from Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Integrated Science and Technology, and Engineering, but other majors and interests are welcome. Activities range from invited speakers and touring local companies to playing with ALICE or in Second Life to bowling, hiking and the corn maze. Our service project will be working with local schools to increase interest in technology at the intermediate and high school levels.
