Declaring a Major

New freshmen and transfer students declare their majors through the JMU One Book website when they sign up for orientation. This major becomes the students' official major on their academic record. 

Current and continuing students may declare or change majors by completing the Change or Declaration of Major Form. The form must be signed by the department head for the major. Signed forms must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar.  The Office of the Registrar is located in the Student Success Center, 5th Floor, Suite 5300. 

Changing a Major

If a current student wishes to change their major, the student must complete a Change or Declaration of Major form. The department head of the new major must sign the form.  Signed forms must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar. The Office of the Registrar is located in the Student Success Center, 5th Floor, Suite 5300. 

Declaring or Changing a Minor or Pre-Professional Program

If a student wishes to declare or change a minor or a pre-professional program, the student must complete a Change or Declaration of Major form. The department head, minor program coordinator or pre-professional program coordinator must sign the form. The signed form must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar. The Office of the Registrar is located in the Student Success Center, 5th Floor, Suite 5300.
