New freshmen and transfer students declare their majors through the JMU One Book website when they sign up for orientation. This major becomes the students' official major of record unless they change the major at some point in the future.
Current and continuing students may declare or change their major by completing the Change or Declaration of Major Form available from the Office of the Registrar. The form must be signed by the department head for the major. Signed forms must be returned to the Office of the Registrar.
If a current student wishes to change their major, the student must complete a Change or Declaration of Major form available from the Office of the Registrar. The department head of the new major must sign the form and it must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar on the 5th floor of the Student Success Center.
If a student wishes to declare a minor or a pre-professional program, the student must complete a Change or Declaration of Major form available from the Office of the Registrar. The department head, minor program coordinator or pre-professional program coordinator must sign the form. Once signatures are obtained, the form should be submitted to the Office of the Registrar on the 5th floor of the Student Success Center.
