Why did you choose JMU?

I chose JMU because of the business program. The Business school (Zane Showker) here has an excellent reputation and a recognized program.  I also liked the virginia weather which is much warmer/colder? than in  central US. The campus and the valley are so beautiful and the quiet and peace JMU has to offer is great for college life! I love making this decision to go to school in the valley surrounded by mountains and beauty.

What is your favorite class?

I really enjoyed taking Econ 201, MicroEconomics! My professor was from Russia and her way of relating everything we studied to a real life situation. This  made everything more interesting and relatable. I loved the class so much that I decided to minor in Economics! I don’t think I will ever regret that decision.

Besides studying, how do you occupy your time?

I love the new UREC (University Recreational Center) at JMU! I take Zumba classes every week and it’s a great workout and it’s especially fun! I also spend a lot of my time experimenting in the kitchen, and coming up with some interesting recipes! Otherwise I love reading and hanging out with my friends.

What clubs/activities are you involved with at JMU?

I’m involved in a few clubs. I am the Marketing Chair of the International Student Association (ISA) and also a part of other clubs like the COB diversity council and Fostering Abyssinia.

What do you like best about JMU?

It’s better than sliced bread (I’m kidding)! I love the people here and absolutely love JMU’s door holding tradition (explain?)! In addition, I love seeing all the James Madison statues which have googly eyes on them!? Furthermore, I like that I have the opportunity  to meet so many new people on a daily basis and that there is always something going on campus and I know I will never ever get bored!

What advice would you give to prospective international students?

Definitely come to JMU, because of the amazing people and also for the perfect college life experience! Look through the website for all sorts information and feel free to contact one of us (LINKers) for any kind of information! If you do decide to come to JMU, my only advice is, don’t lose your I-20 or passport.
