How to Apply

  • Duke Dog with Madison Freshman

    Application deadlines are Nov. 1, 2012 for early admission or Jan. 15, 2013 for regular admission. Freshman applicants are graduating high school seniors OR high school graduates who have not attended a college or university.

  • Student group Transfer

    Transfer applicants have graduated from high school and have taken or are in the process of taking college-level coursework. View info for transferring from:

    a Virginia community college | a non-Va. community college | a four-year school


  • Graduate Students Re-entering

    Have you have previously been a degree-seeking student at JMU? This includes students who have graduated with a degree, as well as those who left before completing their degree.

  • Medical Student Graduate

    Apply through the Graduate School to seek admission to one of JMU's graduate programs.

  • Lab Work International

    You are considered an international applicant if you are neither a U.S. citizen nor resident alien of the United States.

    U.S. citizens living abroad and students in U.S. territories should follow the same application process as domestic freshmen or transfer students.

  • Female student Outreach and Engagement programs

    Looking for continuing education, self-enrichment, teacher recertification, professional development, an adult degree, or other non-traditional or customized program? JMU's Office of Outreach and Engagement can help!

    JMU faculty and staff members are eligible to enroll for classes on a part-time basis as a benefit of employment.
