The minor is a part of the School of Theatre and Dance, a program within the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

The JMU theatre minor allows students to explore and develop their skills and knowledge in the field of theatre while pursuing a major in another subject. Students have the freedom to explore a wide range of theatre courses according to their interests, all of which will help them explore how theatre performances are created through diverse types of collaboration; how performance forms are related to the cultures they develop out of; and how skills used by artists and audiences also have utility in non-theatrical contexts.

The requirement for a minor in theatre is 21 credit hours.
