A Message from the Provost
Hello Colleagues,
Are you also looking forward to the eclipse next week? I am, especially after reading this interview with planetarium director Geary Albright. If the event piques your interest, the planetarium offers terrific opportunities to learn more about astronomy. Their programming, like Science Sunday for Girls, will be focused on the eclipse this weekend.
While it is still light out, I’m delighted to share more stories of faculty success.
- Communications Studies Associate Professor Tobias Reynolds-Tylus recently published an interesting article in the Journal of Health Communication. In “Can happiness and sadness overcome organ donation barriers following exposure to radio ads?,” the co-authors examined two narrative strategies for mitigating existing barriers to organ donation by eliciting feelings of happiness or sadness.
- The Daily News Record recently featured Abby Massey, Assistant Professor in the Physician Assistant program. The JMU alum discusses why training the next generation of the healthcare workforce is important.
- Progress on the JMU Lab School for Innovation and Career Exploration is moving quickly! Read more about the development of the project from College of Education Dean Mark L’Esperance and Associate Dean Bryan Zugelder, including the selection of school’s first executive director.
