**These Juice Works camps will be held in Staunton at the Staunton Innovation Hub.** There are half day and full day options available. The first week consists of 3D Printing Part 1 in the AM and Robotics Part 1 in the PM. The second week consists of 3D Printing Part 2 in the AM and Robotics Part 2 in the PM (in order to participate in week 2, your child must take the respective track in week 1).

Part 1 of 3D Printing and/or Robotics

Ages: 9 - 12 year olds
Dates: June 13 - 16, 2022
Time:
 - Half Day Option (3D Printing Part 1)- 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
 - Half Day Option (Robotics Part 1)- 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
 - Full Day Option (Both 3D Printing Part 1 and Robotics Part 1)- 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Program Fee: $190/Half Day Option or $370/Full Day Option (This includes all materials.)

Are you creative? Do you love to design? Do you enjoy using computers and machines? Turn your creative fuel into 3D cool in this exciting digital design and 3D printing camp- Juice Works! Each day you'll learn a variety of digital design and technical skills required to complete design-build challenges that result in actual products you can use and take home!

Day 1 

  • Discover your superpowers using Verchoos 
  • Design Process - What is it and why is it important? 
  • Basics of 2D and 3D part modeling 

Day 2

  • Basic and Precision Measurement 
  • Skills Challenge 1: Ring with Bling (Design and Model) 

Day 3 

  • Intro to 3D Printers & 3D Printing 
  • Finish Skills Challenge 1: Print your Ring 

Day 4 

  • Skills Challenge 2: Slime Stamp (Design, Model, and Print) 
  • Skills Challenge 3: Constrained Creation (Design, Model, and Print)

Curious? Competitive? Detailed? Enjoy using computers and machines? If you answered yes, this exciting robotics camp is for you! Each day you'll use the latest robotic arm technology to learn a variety of technical skills required to complete robotic task challenges that will have your heart racing!

Day 2

  • Robot joints, joint motion, end-effectors and operation
  • Robot Task Challenge 1: Learn the Ropes

  • Robot Build Challenge 1: Robo Bed

Day 4

  • Robot Build Challenge 2: Boat Dock
  • Robot Build Challenge 3: Lemonade Stand 
  • Robot Draw Challenge 1: Circuit Board Chaos
  • Robot Draw Challenge 2: Custom Robot Art

Schedule & Key Activities for 3D Printing Part 2*: 

Are you a creative, hands-on student who had a blast in our part 1 3D printing camp? Are you looking to take your skills to the next level? If so, this intermediate level 3D printing part 2 camp is your chance to add more skills to your toolset to experience even more 3D cool! This exciting, challenging camp will provide you the opportunity to learn and develop a range of fun digital modeling skills and allow you to 3D print a variety of 3D cool to take home!

Day 1:

  • Intro and Recap of the Design Process
  • Basics of 3D printer machine hardware and set up
  • 3D filament selection and troubleshooting
  • Challenge 1: Using Dial Calipers to Determine Nozzle and Filament Characteristics
  • Challenge 2: Reverse engineer your way out of this one!

Day 2:

  • Common 3D Printer machine errors and troubleshooting
  • Introduction to 3D model stores and model editing using tools like Meshmixer
  • Challenge 3: Model selection, cleanup, and print
  • Challenge 4: Make it Sparkle and Shine

Day 3:

  • 3D model post-processing review and challenge 3 object paint
  • Introduction to Assemblies and related engineering and design considerations
  • Challenge 5a: 3 part assembly modeling and print

Day 4:

  • Challenge 5b: 3 part assembly print completion
  • Assemble and test your assembly

Are you a creative, hands-on student who had a blast in our part 1 robotics camp? Are you looking to take your skills to the next level? If so, this intermediate level robotics part 2 camp is your chance to add more robotics skills to your toolset as well as new programming skills to experience even more robot cool! Each day you’ll learn a variety of new, more detailed techniques and applications, which you will then use to solve daily troubleshooting, design, and robot automation challenges!

Day 1

  • Intro and Recap of the Design Process
  • Review of robot hardware and set up
  • Challenge 1 - Robot Axis and Movement

Day 2

  • Review of robot errors and troubleshooting
  • Introduction to Pick and Place
  • Challenge 2: Look Mom, No Hands! 
  • Challenge 3: Jumps and Loops

Day 3

  • Introduction to programming (what, why, how?)
  • Robot automation with GUI programming using Blockly
  • Challenge 4: Get Your Groove On

Day 4

  • Robot automation with scripting using Python
  • Challenge 5: Custom Solutions
