Prepare for your curtain call in this introductory acting class, tailored to individual abilities. Activities include warm-ups, acting exercises, character development, and scene work. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for movement. This hands-on class is for those eager to learn and have fun, with no prior acting experience needed, just an interest in theater.

Sarah Hill holds a master's degree in Drama from the University of Virginia and has written, acted, and directed across many theater settings. After twelve years as a producer/director on a U.S. Army post, she shifted careers and now serves as a Presbyterian pastor near Lexington.

Fall Wildlife and Native Plant Frolic In Cowbane Prairie And Maple Flat

Explore the wildlife and native plants of two unique Augusta County preserves during the fall season. Guided by Nate Miller and Sue Dickson, participants will tour Cowbane Prairie and Maple Flats, learning about their diverse ecosystems and seasonal highlights. Nate Miller, a Rockingham County native, is a Professor of Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, and Cannabis at Piedmont Virginia Community College. Sue Dickson, a Master Gardener, previously taught in Northern Virginia Community College's Horticulture Department.

This three-session course examines book banning through time, from early civilizations to present-day controversies and future implications. Lynne Stover recently retired as a Teacher Consultant at JMU's Center for Economic Education after thirty-three years in public schools as a teacher, gifted specialist, and librarian. She has written over fifty educational articles and eight resource books and received the 2022 NAEE Platinum Curriculum Award.

The Art of the Written Word – Intermediate Chancery Cursive Italic

Continue exploring the value of handwriting in a screen-dominated world while advancing your Italic calligraphy skills. Master uppercase and lowercase letterforms using smaller broad-edge nibs. Prior Italic calligraphy experience is required. Beautiful stationery and all materials are provided.

Introduction to Blackletter Calligraphy: A Workshop for Those Who Love Lettering

A brief history of the Gothic Blackletter calligraphy styles that were used throughout Europe from the 12th to the 15th century. Its distinctive style is often used in religious texts and contemporary design. Hands-on instruction will enable participants to create a finished table card, gift tag or holiday greeting card with a broad-edged marker. All materials are provided. Beginners are welcome.

Archaeology of the Bible

Robbie Miller served as Chaplain of Bridgewater College for 33 years before retiring in 2023. He developed and led a study tour of Israel, Palestine, and Jordan and continues to teach Archaeology and the Bible, from which this LLI course is adapted.

Maryjane Chewning rediscovered her mother's vintage buttons and her own broken jewelry when pandemic downtime led her to sort through old belongings. Largely self-taught through practice and online learning, she now creates modern, one-of-a-kind pieces from used and vintage materials, giving forgotten treasures new life.
