Dukes Weekly Changes and Updates

Dukes Weekly, the weekly student email publication that is sent out to all JMU students, is being renamed Dukes News ahead of the 2026-27 academic year and will be sent twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays at 1 p.m.  

This past spring semester, to support the university’s revised bulk email policy, Dukes Weekly began incorporating student bulk email requests into its already established weekly newsletter. The addition of these messages increased the length and content of Dukes Weekly emails. To better serve our students and to ensure an email format that is concise, engaging and effective, a second edition will improve overall readability and allow better segmentation of information to be sent at more timely intervals.  

Carson Lonett, AVP Executive Advisor to the Vice President for Student Affairs, and a member of the Governance Committee, says, “This increase in frequency of Dukes News will allow students to have a one-stop communication twice a week, expanding their engagement with university offerings and resources. This enhances our student experience and tailors our communication opportunities and partnerships to highlight important messaging across campus for students.”
