Philosophy Club Hosts End-of-Year Celebration

News

The Philosophy Club met for the final meeting of the year on May 5. There was food and celebration for the end of a long and arduous semester.  This relaxed meeting showed the thriving community within the Philosophy and Religion Department here at JMU.  It was a fun time with questions like “How many hot dogs is a weird amount to eat?”

Also, executives for the next year of the Philosophy Club were announced. Jack Grace will be president; Patrick Ward will be vice president; Ian Roach will continue as public outreach coordinator, and Mathias Perez will continue as scribe.  Phi Sigma Tau also announced their student executives for the upcoming year.  Lili Reyes will continue as president; Rachel Wilson will take over as vice-president; Jacob Krutis will be secretary, and Sofi Reyes will continue as treasurer.  Congratulations to all new and returning execs!

This final meeting pointed beyond the club itself.  It highlighted the vibrancy of the Philosophy and Religion Department, where intellectual seriousness is joined by friendship, humor, and shared community.  As the semester ended, the gathering offered a fitting image of the department at its best.
