Growing Our Leadership Skills Together!  Announcing the SPCE L.E.A.D.S. Learning Community

Join the New, Free, & Online Learning Community for Professional Leadership Development

As the turbulence and change related to COVID reminded us, leadership expertise is critical for teams and organizations to successfully adapt to complexity. Unfortunately, advanced leadership skills are not learned with a quick training, and past leadership experience has its limits when facing new and different challenges.

So, where can professionals go to grow their leadership knowledge and skills over a lifetime? How can we collectively learn together about how best to tackle the challenges of today, such as adapting to remote and hybrid work environments? Where can we learn between taking paid training and development programs, and after we earn our credentials and degrees?

Announcing SPCE L.E.A.D.S. – A Learning Community for Professionals

JMU SPCE is committed to support professionals’ lifetime leadership development journeys. And, the SPCE teamAssessment_thumb.png believes that any individual with a growth mindset can benefit from an accessible (read: FREE and online) community of practice focused on building each other’s leadership expertise. That’s why JMU SPCE is launching a new learning community.

The JMU SPCE Leadership Education And Development Series (L.E.A.D.S.) is a free, online learning community for professionals seeking to continually grow their leadership expertise. L.E.A.D.S. will consist of free expert interviews, applied workshops, and special events – and a Facebook group to keep people connected.

To Connect: Register for the Fall 2022 Speaker Series on Leading Innovation in Hybrid and Remote Teams

L.E.A.D.S. kicks off with more than a dozen interviews with speakers on the theme, “Thriving in the New Normal: What Leaders Should Know to Confidently Lead Innovation in Hybrid and Remote Teams and Organizations.” Anyone can sign up to receive the interviews via email, and then join in the discussion in a private Facebook group. Learn from expert trainers and consultants, corporate leaders, non-profit economic development officers, Emmy award-winning writers, agile project management experts, and diversity experts. Each guest offers practical tools and even some bonuses to those who tune in! Register.

Two NEW Leadership Trainings!

In addition to the free content and trainings, JMU SPCE is launching two new paid trainings for those professionals ready for the next step for individual and team leadership.

New! The Innovative Leadership Program – Registration deadlines in October 2022

This four-month program is designed for individual leaders committed to own growth. The ILP program prepares participants to understand their vision, values and strengths as a leader to engage in innovative leadership in addressing challenges in their organizations and in evolving contexts. This is a very valuable program for working professionals ready for promotion. SPCE is partnering with the Innovative Leadership Institute to offer this program, and it is taught by Founder & CEO Maureen Metcalf. Save over $500 by registering early!

New! Foundations of Project Management & Team Communication Certificate Program

While SPCE offers advanced project management and lean six sigma training, the message has been loud and clear: professionals and managers want an affordable training course that teaches basic project management principles and tools AND that emphasizes the importance of clear internal communication.

SPCE created the course so many professionals have been waiting for – and the first open enrollment cohort starts in October! Don’t miss the opportunity to sign up yourself and/or your colleagues for this highly interactive and practical training.

See You Online – and Be In Touch!

The best place to connect is to register for the Speaker Series. You will receive the interviews and information about the program opportunities, and receive the invite to the L.E.A.D.S. Facebook group.

If you would prefer a direct connection with an SPCE staff member, contact Elizabeth Sacco or Kai Degner at cpdtraining@jmu.edu

All of JMU SPCE’s non-credit professional development training is listed here.
