Once a year, the Shenandoah Valley Technology Council (SVTC) celebrates the achievements of local technology firms, organizations, and programs in the region and the entrepreneurs and innovators behind those successes. This year’s twentieth annual technology awards gala, TechNite20, took place virtually on October 7th with tech users and creators from all over the Shenandoah Valley. This year, the tech council used a highly-interactive virtual platform that enabled attendees to move around the remote event space on their own accord and timing, connecting as they wished in small group conversations.

During the 2020 nomination period in March the tech council accepted 25 nominees who competed in eight award categories. Later in the summer, winners were selected by a group of judges consisting of K-12 and high-education representatives, as well as seasoned tech entrepreneurs, leaders, and developers. The eighth award category, the Serco People’s Choice Award, was given to the nominee who had received the most votes on social media using the hashtag #SVTCPC20.  A digital summary of the achievements and innovations of all 25 nominees is posted at www.svtc-va.org.

The winners for the TechNite20 are:

Rockingham Circuit Court Clerk’s INNOVATION IN COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD: The Community Impact Award is given to an individual, team, nonprofit/civic organization, or company in the Shenandoah Valley that aspires to use its capabilities to help solve a social or environmental issue in a local community while using technology to amplify the impact of a service, mission, or project.
