madiSTEM-A STEM Conference Designed for Girls in Grades 6-8
NoticesWe are pleased to announce that the madiSTEM Conference will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Engineering/Geosciences and King Halls from 9:00am to 3:30pm.
madiSTEM (Making A Difference In STEM) is an annual STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) conference designed for girls in grades 6-8. The purpose of the conference is to encourage young women to continue their studies in STEM, to provide them with female scientist role models, and to foster awareness of STEM-related careers. The conference will include a wide variety of activities, including hands-on workshops on a broad range of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics topics, keynote talks by women in STEM careers, and a lunch with JMU students majoring in STEM. Information about conference events is available on our website.
madiSTEM is a free event, but advance registration is required for all attendees. We will begin with a pre-registration period. This pre-registration will give us valuable information about demand so that we can better create our workshop tracks. The madiSTEM pre-registration form will be open on our conference website from 9 am on Thursday, February 5, 2026 until 9 pm on Friday, February 13, 2026. Registration is open to all students, grades 6-8. Full information about the registration process and the link for pre-registration can be found on our website.
You can find more information, including requirements for all attendees, complete instructions for registering, and the link to the pre-registration on our website.
Thank you,
