2025 Year-End Donation Instructions and Holiday Schedule

Notices

The Office of Gifts and Records will be closed for Winter Break with the exception of Wednesday, December 31st – we will be in the office from 9 AM to 4 PM. We will, however, be checking voicemail for our 855# and will return calls to donors who want to make a credit card gift via phone.

All Philanthropy & Engagement (University Advancement) mail will be delivered directly to AGR on December 31st and dispersed to your department on January 5, 2026.

If you have any questions during Winter Break please contact Gretchen Armentrout at 540-435-6575.

The Foundation will be answering calls and emails but will not have anyone physically in the office. There will be someone in the office to accept gifts (Foundation Hall, 4th Floor, 1031 Harrison St) daily on December 29, 30 and 31.

Credit Cards:

To qualify for a 2025 taxable contribution, all credit card gifts made via the online giving site (www.jmu.edu/give) must be received through the site by 11:59 p.m. EST, Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

Checks:

To qualify for a 2025 taxable contribution, checks mailed via the postal service must be dated and envelopes postmarked on or before December 31, 2025.  The mailing address for Advancement Gifts and Records is:

JMU, Advancement Gifts and Records

1031 Harrison St, MSC 3603

Harrisonburg, VA 22807

PLEASE NOTE:

Gifts received in your office must be delivered to Gifts and Records, Foundation Hall, 3rd floor, immediately upon your return.  Please make sure that you include the postmarked envelope for date validation.

Securities:

To qualify for a 2025 tax contribution, the stock/mutual fund needs to be transferred into the JMU Foundation’s brokerage account (https://www.jmu.edu/foundation/gifts-of-stock.shtml) by December 31, 2025.  There is no exact answer to how much lead time is required to transfer stocks/mutual funds, so it is important to act early to give the broker enough time to complete the transfer.  The amount of time needed for the transfer varies among brokers, and most of them are very busy at the end of the year.  As a rule, mutual funds transfers take longer than stocks.
