On December 6, two international students participating in the Sharing My Culture program, Hae Lang (Elaine) Nam and Sooyeon Choi, gave a presentation to over 35 first, second and third grade children at the Eastern Mennonite School in Harrisonburg.

Elaine (Hospitality Management ’16) and Sooyeon (Liberal Studies ’16) are both from South Korea. Elaine became a Sharing My Culture presenter to “use this opportunity to introduce South Korea to students.” Elaine and Sooyeon opened their presentation with an interactive Prezi about the culture, geography and climate of South Korea, before moving on to several hands-on activities where the students learned to make origami boats and sing the children’s song “Hands, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” in Korean.

The elementary school students had a blast and also learned a lot about Korea.

Wouldn’t you want to share your culture too?

Let us know if you would like to… Hunter Swanson would like to hear from you!
