Netskope Private Access to Replace DirectAccess
Information Technology-ComputingThis fall, a new product called Netskope Private Access (NPA) is coming to JMU to replace Microsoft DirectAccess. NPA works similarly to DirectAccess, in that it allows JMU employees with managed computers to remotely access many JMU on-premises systems (PeopleSoft, N drive, OnBase, etc.) as if they were connected to the campus’s wired network.
For Windows users, the experience of using NPA will be like that of using DirectAccess. NPA will run in the background, will not require any user interaction, and will allow you to connect to the same systems that you can access on your computer today. A major benefit of NPA is that it will also run on JMU-managed MacOS computers. Instead of connecting to VPN clients and/or virtual desktops to access many protected JMU systems, NPA will provide Mac users with a more streamlined experience.
NPA is currently being tested extensively by IT and other technical staff. Once testing is complete, IT will send additional information about the timing and impact of its rollout to all JMU computers.
