Teams Voice Isolation and Facial Recognition

Information Technology-Computing

Microsoft has implemented new voice and face recognition functionality in the latest version of Teams. The new features are optional, and users are not required to configure them or apply them.

Voice isolation can filter out background noise using artificial intelligence (AI) so that others can hear the user's voice more clearly. Creating a facial profile enables Teams to automatically display a user's name when attending meetings in a conference room with supported equipment.

You may receive a prompt related to these features asking you to create a voice or a face profile.

The features can also be turned on/off by going to Settings and the section for Recognition.

Note: A voice profile can be set up without a face profile. However, setting up a face profile will require the user to set up a voice profile as well.

For more information on these features, please go to Microsoft's Teams Voice Isolation service page.

If you have any questions or issues regarding Teams, please contact the IT Help Desk at (540)568-3555 or helpdesk@jmu.edu.
