End of EDUC Web Services
Information Technology-ComputingPlease be aware that JMU's EDUC web-hosting service (https://educ.jmu.edu) will be discontinued on December 23, 2025. Currently, around 500 JMU employees and students have accounts on the EDUC service. If you have an account and content that you would like to keep, JMU Information Technology (IT) asks that you download the content and/or move it to an alternate web hosting service as soon as possible. If you have content that you no longer need, then you may either remove it or do nothing. All EDUC accounts and content/data will automatically be removed on December 23rd.
For web content of a personal nature, JMU IT recommends that you establish a personal account at a third-party web-hosting service. IT does not recommend any third-party service in particular, but examples of providers include wix.com, weebly.com, and wordpress.com. Content of a JMU nature may be eligible to move to one of the following services (see the links for information):
- CampusPress, a service of the JMU Libraries, is a managed WordPress instance for classroom and lab collaborations, research projects, and scholarly initiatives. CampusPress cannot support code-level file access or scripted elements and therefore is not a suitable replacement for code-dependent dynamic content.
- BeInvolved, a service of the JMU Office of Student Life, is the hub for recognized student organizations on campus.
If you have questions related to the EDUC service, please contact the IT Help Desk at (540)568-3555 or helpdesk@jmu.edu.
