Friends of Valley Charities to Host a Scholarship 5K Run

FOVC LogoThe Friends of Valley Charities (FOVC) will hold a 5K run on Saturday, Sept. 7, 9 a.m., on the grounds of James Madison University.  The funds raised in this event will go toward a College of Business scholarship to be granted each year to a student affected by cancer, either themself or their immediate family.

The Friends of Valley Charities (FOVC) is a local organization of volunteers that raises funds for local charities. The primary fundraiser has been the annual golf tournament and silent auction, spearheaded by CIS Professor Susan Kruck and a band of enthusiastic volunteers (some from the COB). The 2013 golf tournament raised $8,000 with 88 players.  Click here to see pictures.

If you would like to register for the 5K race, you can do so online at (look for Harrisonburg, 5K, and the date; credit cards accepted) or complete the attached (please make the check out to “Friends of Valley Charities”) and mail it to the listed address.

Co-organizer Dr. Pamela Drake says, “We want to encourage alumni and students to participate along with faculty and members of the community. Feel free to share the attached flyer with everyone.”
