2018-19 BTC Calendar: Richard Xu

Richard Xu knows about going big. Not only was he an offensive lineman for JMU’s 2016 national championship football team, but the engineering major is building a 3-D printer that’s as large as a king-size bed and will do more than just print. His work earned him grant funding to participate in a fellowship program in the summer of 2017 as well as interest from a local business. Richard plans to use the machine to print a drone for his engineering capstone project, and future improvements will enable the machine to print glass filaments and medical items. “The motto is, find something we can’t do with this machine and figure out how to do it.”
