Being the Change
Inspired by needs they saw while volunteering in West Africa in 1998, Aric and Tammy returned to the U.S. “with a dream to make a difference in the world through the power of media,” Tammy says. The couple helped build and now lead Discovery Learning Alliance, a nonprofit that uses the power of media to transform education and improve lives in underserved communities around the world. Recently, Tammy launched an innovative partnership with the U.K. Department for International Development to improve education and life opportunities for marginalized girls in sub-Saharan Africa, and Aric created the Transformative Media for Social Impact Summit at St. George’s House in Windsor Castle.
