SUMMARY: Dominguez is the author and illustrator of several children’s books including Maria Had a Little Llama, which received the American Library Association Pura Belpré Illustration Honor.

The James Madison College of Education will host children’s author Angela Dominguez, Wednesday, October 24, from 10 a.m. —4:50 p.m. Dominguez is recognized for her unique ability to bridge the gap between creativity and inclusion. Her bilingual books work to shape the underrepresented experiences of Latinos in children’s literature.

While visiting Harrisonburg, Dominguez will speak to a variety of audiences—including 3rd grade students at Waterman Elementary, JMU preservice teachers, and a presentation to Harrisonburg and Charlottesville teachers at Smithland Elementary.
