SUMMARY: The Forbes Center's Annual Masterpiece Season features Grammy-winning musicians and ensembles, internationally acclaimed guest artists, groups and choreographers, and award-winning JMU theatre, dance and music students and faculty.
Tickets are now available for the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts’ 2016-2017 Masterpiece Season.
The season features performances by Grammy-winning musicians and ensembles, internationally-acclaimed guest artists, groups and choreographers, and award-winning JMU theatre, dance and music students and faculty.
Headlining the series are 20-time Grammy-winning jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, renowned British actor Julian Sands in the solo tour-de-force, A Celebration of Harold Pinter, and The Milk Carton Kids, a Grammy-nominated duo whose music has been described as “gorgeous contemporary folk” by NPR.
Other highlights include The National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, The Havana Cuba All-Stars, The Five Irish Tenors, and Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters: An African Tale, a production featuring authentic African drumming and original music.
The Forbes Center will also partner with WMRA to host the long-running live music radio show, Mountain Stage, on Sept. 11, and with JMU’s Furious Flower Poetry Center for Throw Your Head Back & Sing as a tribute to Maya Angelou on Sept. 29.
