Now accepting nominations for public service awards

The School of Public and International Affairs at JMU is currently accepting nominations for three public service awards: 

• The Lifelong Achievement in Public Service award will be awarded to someone who has embodied the principles of equity, integrity, ethical performance, stewardship, and excellence in his/her career serving the public of the Shenandoah Valley. The recipient may be either retired or active in the workforce. 

• The John B. Noftsinger Alumni Award for Public Service Excellence will be awarded to an employee in the public sector who shares the same ideals of public and community service as its namesake. The recipient, who is dedicated to improving the community through equity, integrity, stewardship and excellence in the Shenandoah Valley, must have a master's degree in public administration, or bachelor's degree in political science or public policy and administration, from James Madison University. 

• The Excellence in Public Service award will be awarded to an individual in public or nonprofit administration in the Shenandoah Valley for his/her achievements in public service. The award acknowledges public service and an individual's overall impact toward advancing the public interest through active engagement with the community, strengthening social equity, demonstrating personal integrity, promoting ethical standards of performance and stewardship and advancing professional excellence. 

To nominate someone you know, submit a letter describing the nominee's achievements and his/her C.V. or resume to the Awards Committee at taylo2ja@jmu.edu by April 20, 2015.
