Hornsby is a licensed clinical psychologist and nationally certified school psychologist. She serves as director of the School Psychology Program, where she teaches classes in psychological assessment and practicum training, advises student research, supervises clinical training and mentors future school psychologists.
Hornsby’s scholarship focuses on student mental health, interprofessional collaboration, family-school-community partnerships and the experiences of historically marginalized students and professionals. Her research has examined mental health supports in schools, collaboration among school-based service providers, cyberbullying and discrimination, and the preparation of school psychologists to serve diverse communities.
Hornsby is available to discuss the academic, social and emotional challenges students face during major educational transitions, particularly the move from high school to college. She frequently speaks about belonging, identity development, resilience and strategies that support student wellbeing and success.
Hornsby earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at Howard University, and master's and doctorate degrees in educational psychology with a concentration in school psychology at Oklahoma State University.
